Beyond the Classroom

ExtracurricularActivities and Clubs

Friends School after-school clubs program (pre-K through grade 8) provides age-appropriate enrichment activities and learning opportunities designed to encourage students to explore and develop new skills and share their talents and interests with the Friends community.

Experienced instructors—Friends School faculty and members of the local community—are committed to sharing their expertise in club topics, and to providing the best possible learning experience for each student. Clubs typically meet one day a week, Monday through Friday 3:30pm–4:30pm.

Drama Classes

Drama Classes

With CommonWealth Theatre Center

We are very excited to announce Friends School has partnered with the Commonwealth Theatre Center (CTC) to provide weekly drama classes.  During the 15 week fall and spring residency our 5th through 8th graders will participate in Exploring History through Drama. This program will provide our students with the opportunity to bring people and events to life. Students will be tasked with developing episodic plays based on their areas of historic study. Each play will be performed in chronological order, illustrating cause and effect while boosting content retention.  Additionally, all grade levels will get to enjoy CTC's fantastic production of The Ugly Duckling. Stay tuned for updates on the performance schedule.

In addition to our fantastic music program, our preschool, elementary, and middle schoolers will have the opportunity to form a Friends School Chorus. It is our intent to share our talented singers with the community by performing in nursing homes and in our local children’s hospitals, as well as school wide performances.

Fine Arts

Fine arts partnership

with Studio Works Art Gallery

All students will get to work with one of the visiting artists on a monthly basis. Studio Works boasts artists who work with various types of media, styles and materials. Our students will be introduced to printmaking, mixed media, weaving, pastels and more. In addition, our 5th and 6th grade students will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with a sculptor and learn the art of pottery. These students will create, glaze and fire their pieces in the Studio Works kiln.

Upcoming Extracurriculars

We are introducing some amazing new extracurricular classes over the coming years including Computer Coding, Soccer, Beginning Ballet, Begging Tennis, Little Techies, Science Detective Club, Louisville Equestrian Center, Gardening Club and more. Details will be sent soon.
