Volunteer

Share your time and talent by becoming a volunteer—the perspective you can offer provides students special access and insight to your life experiences.  Active participation takes many different forms. We encourage and welcome you to volunteer in the classrooms, to serve on the Board of Directors, work special events, lead afterschool activities, or assist the Parent Volunteer Organization

Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO)

Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO)

As a family cooperative, all parents are members of the school's Parent Volunteer Organization, and we strongly encourage parental participation in the PVO program.  PVO helps strengthen the feeling of community we nurture at Friends School, and gives parents an opportunity to take ownership in the success and wellbeing of the school’s program.

PVO plays a critical role in fundraising and friend making for the school.  Events led by the PVO raise needed resources for the school’s annual fund, which supports daily operations, scholarship programs, purchasing of new curriculums and classroom supplies, as well as professional development for the faculty and staff.  PVO members are also ambassadors for the school’s mission, and occasionally will be asked to go out into the community on behalf of Friends School to work information booths at local festivals, conferences, and community gatherings.

PVO Officers

PVO officers

Currently we are in need of volunteers to full these positions.  The PVO meets the third Wednesday of the month.  Meetings take place at Friends School from 7:30am-9:30am. Agendas for each meeting will be posted to the PVO section of the website one week prior to the meeting date.  PVO officers are responsible for the planning and execution of school events in cooperation with administrators. Please be advised that as a PVO officer you may be required to attend additional committee meetings before or after school hours.  Serving as a PVO officer is an excellent way to get to know Friends School better, and help support your child’s school community.
